Statement: To create web tools to further enable the communication of mathematics and mathematical ideas over the internet, especially between student and teacher. |
Algebra Hut
presents JS-83
A
Web-Based
Graphing Calculator.
This
calculator is still in development, but is already capable of
doing many different types of calculations, including most one-variable
statistical analysis, graphing functions, and matrix operations.
NEW! This graphing calculator is now available as a Chrome Extension. I am also working on a help wiki. |
This tool presents the user with buttons for building many types of mathematical expressions, which can then be saved or copied/pasted into another document. |

This area contains some material that demonstrates the awesome power of JavaScript, but for which I have not yet found a use. Please share any ideas you have about what you find here. |
Algebra Hut
presents EduTweet This is a real-time data collection
tool for use in the classroom. Requirements: Students with cell phones, Twitter accounts, and internet connection in the classroom. It works just like 'Clickers'. You ask a question, the students respond, via Twitter, and you collect their responses.

I am re-working this tool in an attempt to create a website for people to post math examples. Something akin to ehow, but specifically for math. This tool will allow anybody to create an online math example by entering in the problem and the steps to solve said problem. Upon submitting, a web page is created and hosted on this website. The link is provided to the user. At the moment, I am trying to avoid using a database, instead opting for no registration, user-moderated content (with a rating system), and using Ligit Search to help users find relevant and high-quality examples. I'm hoping that Ligit search can determine which examples are most viewed and linked to in order to rank the examples properly. Anyhow, it is a work in progress. Please be aware that, as of now, if you create an example, it may get deleted as I continue to work on this service. I would advising saving all work by right-clicking, viewing source, and saving that source code. Or better yet, working out the example first on your editor of choice (like Word), saving it there, copy and paste it into myMathExample to post on the web. This way, you have a backup. Just be aware that any images/math expressions must be hosted online for them to display on the website. |
Send an email that with this editor that makes it easy to include math! Also, see Online Math Quiz, which is a modification of the Math Mailer that I used to have students do math quizzes online and send their work through email. |
